Notes

Ingredient Substitutions: 🔄 Olive oil → Any kind of oil worksSesame oil → Olive oil (it just won't have the sesame flavor) 🔄 Rice wine vinegar → Apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar (add a pinch of sugar if needed) 🔄 Honey → Brown sugar or granulated sugar 🔄 Soy sauce → Tamari (gluten-free) or coconut aminos 🔄 Ground ginger → Fresh grated ginger (use ~1 tablespoon) or skip entirely 🔄 Garlic powder → Fresh minced garlic (~1 clove), onion powder, or skip 🔄 Everything bagel seasoning → Toasted sesame seeds + a pinch of garlic/onion powder and flaky salt 🔄 Edamame → Leave it out! 🔄 Romaine lettuce → Swap with chopped napa cabbage, iceberg, butter lettuce, or a spring mix. Even spinach works in a pinch! 🔄 Coleslaw mix → Use shredded green/red cabbage or broccoli slaw. Or just more lettuce! 🔄 Shredded carrots → Thinly sliced bell peppers, cucumber matchsticks, or radishes for crunch. 🔄 Green onions → Chives, shallots, or thinly sliced red onion (soak in water to mellow the flavor). 🔄 Cilantro → Fresh basil or mint for a slightly different twist, or leave it out if you’re not a fan. 🔄 Avocados → Diced mango or cucumber! 🔄 Sesame ginger wonton strips → Crispy chow mein noodles, crushed ramen noodles, or roasted nuts like cashews or sliced almonds. 🔄 Rotisserie chicken → Grilled chicken breast, baked tofu, sautéed shrimp, or leftover steak or pork. You can even do canned chicken in a pinch! Make-Ahead Tips: ✔️ Chop the veggies and store in airtight containers or bags ✔️ Make the dressing up to 3 days in advance ✔️ Keep shredded chicken ready to go in the fridge (or freezer and defrost the day of) (I always get my rotisserie chicken from Costco, shred it while it’s still warm (SO much easier!), and freeze it for easy dinners later. Then you can just microwave and go when you're ready to use it.)
