Ingredient Substitutions: π Cavatappi β Any pasta shape (penne, rigatoni, fusilli, or spaghetti) π Olive oil β Any neutral oil (avocado oil, vegetable oil, or melted butter) π Unsalted butter β Olive oil π Shallot β Yellow onion, red onion, or 2 cloves minced garlic π Garlic powder β Onion powder or 2 cloves fresh minced garlic π Tomato paste β 1/2 cup tomato sauce (reduce pasta water slightly) π Vodka β Chicken broth or just omit π Heavy cream β Half & half, whole milk, or unsweetened canned coconut milk (for dairy-free) π Parmesan β Pecorino Romano or nutritional yeast (for dairy-free) or you can omit! π Panko breadcrumbs β Crushed crackers, crushed croutons, or regular breadcrumbs π Italian seasoning β A mix of dried basil, oregano, and thyme π If you want protein β you can add Italian sausage, shrimp, ground chicken, or grilled chicken. Can I Make This Ahead of Time? Yes!
